For those of you with multiple AMEX charge cards, what is the advantage of multiple cards? I have noticed more than one wallet with more than one card. I personally have a Rewards Plus Gold card and a revolver (BCP). It seems like having more would just mean more fees. Is there something I am missing?
Some people link a green/gold/pr gold/plat to a zync card for the bonus category packs. Other people may have a business amex charge and a personal amex charge. Aside from that there is not much point in having more than one charge account open.
Other than multipliers, I would have no clue. Plat and cent are linked forming Platianium and pr is there for multipliers.
We basically use zync to auto pay our cable bill & itunes (so roughly $250 a month x2 MR). We use our platinum for almost everything else, with the exception of Blue Preferred for groceries (6% back on $6k per year = $360).
I think a lot of people here have multiple Amex's because of the backdating. If you are going to open a new card, might as well be a card that will backdate.
I can see multiple revolvers, but personally multiple charge cards seems odd to me too.

What, may I ask, is Platianium?

Lol finally someone asked. I was going for a version of Carbotanium with cards and came up with platanium. Carbotanium is carbon fiber and titanium and platanium is platinum and titanium.

Say that 5 times fast
Platinum is a card that a lot of people carry for its benefits and not for the rewards. It only earns 1 MR point for all purchases, and gets some additional bonus for purchases made through Amex's shopping portal, but its base earning is pretty much 1 point. A lot of frequent travelers carry it for the lounge access alone, and never put any spend through the card. They put their spend on other cards like PR Gold card, Starwood card, or maybe a non-Amex like Sapphire Prefferred. For example, pairing it with the PR Gold, you put all of your airline travel through that card because it earns 3x points for all airfare. This doesn't work if you don't spend that much on airfare, but if you spend a lot on airfare, especially reimbursable travel for work, the annual fees are easily made up for.
