Macy's no longer releasing credit limits to consumers???

So today I called Macy's to find out my limit on my revolving
Account and the CSR told me that as of March 30th they are mo
Longer able to release this information. However if there is a specific dollar amount they will be happy to try for an authorization??

As anyone else experienced this?

I'm with you, it's bad enough not be able to see your limit when you log in online, but now to have to call and speak with someone everytime. Granted I pretty much always know my limit just because I don't use the card as much anymore but it's just the principle of it all, and since they have long ago stopped reporting CL's on reports, I really see no reason to keep the card.

Re: Macy's no longer releasing credit limits to consumers???

this is really sad ... macys and the bank that backs it have been going downhill for a while now and then this ... i just called them and was told the same bs ... i guess i am going to start using my jcp card more often. i am one of those people who is not comfortable with unknown spending limits. i prefer to know my limit, current balance etc etc in a straightforward format. i would hope that these idiots would maybe put up a spending limit check on their website like amex does for their charge cards, so that consumers can know if their purchase would be approved or not before they walk in ...

What really bugs me is that even the CSR agreed that it was frustrating, has anyone been able to find a reason why they are doing this?

Gone from one of the most card holder friendly,

to one of the least card holder friendly store cards over the past several months Smiley Sad

Now there is one reason to consider their 24.9% non negotiable APR Amex over the store card--if it continues to disclose the limit!

I called Macy's today this card is a really big joke now. So now eveytime you make a purchase you have to call Momma Macy's to see if your charge will be approved. For some reason I don't see this policy lasting for long cause in the long run they will loose allot of customers.

More discussion on this here.

This just seems horribly unworkable. Doesn't anyone think this stuff through?
