I was reassured SEVERAL times that it would only be a soft pull to check my eligibility for a CLI. I approved and let her continue with the request. I was declined (due to too many recent open accounts) but what's worse is she issued a HARD pull!

Speaking with a senior specialist now. We'll see what happens.
After talking with a senior analyst, he put the case in review and told me a manager is going to listen to the recording of my phone conversation where the representative told me multiple times it would be a soft pull. Once he confirms, they can apparently have the inquiry wiped off my report. Pretty cool. Hope all goes according to plan
Oh Chase has lied to me twice about the hard pull stuff (BofA too). I've decided unless I know it's a soft pull (like with AMEX) I won't be asking for a CLI.
It sucks doesn't it? Nothing grinds my gears worse than a rep giving false information, ESPECIALLY when it comes to my credit.
I hope you were able to have them resolve it.
