Do you have to be in the forces to get a NFCU card?

You dont have to be -- a family member can be. or a family member can be a member of NFCU and u can join because of that. NFCU is for family & household members of any DoD personnel.
My aunt is retired military, so my Mom got in through her since it's her sister-in-law. And then I piggy backed onto my mom's account 2 years later -for 6 months. Now I have my own.
