Afni Success!

Inspired by some of the folks on the boards, I decided to send an email to Afni, Inc to delete an collections line from my credit report. Though I had paid them over two years ago and they had zero incentive to help me, they've agreed to delete! I'm thrilled! They also emailed me a letter that I can also send to the credit bureaus myself.

Email text:

Mr. Staaden,

I have reviewed your request and your Cingular account which had been placed with Afni for collections. Due to the circumstances of your personal situation, I have made the decision to honor your request. Afni will be submitting a request to the credit reporting agencies to remove information regarding Afni, Inc. Account *********** (AT&T Mobility account ***********) from your credit file. This request may take up to 30 days to be honored by the credit reporting agencies. If I can be of any further assistance please feel free to contact me at the information below. Additionally, for your records I have attached Afni’s standard credit deletion letter.

Re: Afni Success!

Good job! I emailed them a PFD last week and they emailed back saying that they were deleting. 2 days later I had 2 letters (snail mail) from them stating that it would be deleted. It was gone from EX the next day. I haven't pulled TU or EQ yet, waiting until the end of the month.

Re: Afni Success!

Thanks! I'm trying to resist the urge to constantly check my credit to see if it clears, knowing it can take up to 30 days to come off. I'll update when I find out that it's been removed. It sounds like Afni is actually pretty quick in reporting it to the bureaus.

ssghandless - I'll send you a PM of who I contacted. Let me know if that helps!

Re: Afni Success!

Hi there, I am new here, but wondering if you might PM me the name and address of the person you contaced at AFNI? I have a new collection that I know is mine, but was never sent a bill from the OC (a hospital co-pay for my daughter). The bill is only $55 and I am praying they will do a PFD. I would greatly appreciate if you would share the info with me.

Congrats on your success!!

Re: Afni Success!

Congrats!

I offer only one minor comment.  In my opinion, I would not send the letter to the CRAs at this point.  They wont delete unless directly instructed to do so by the party who reported the information to them.  It is just a confusing redundancy of paperwork at this point.  Just wait for the creditor to report to the CRA.

Re: Afni Success!

I wouldnt mind seeing what you wrote them exactly, I have an ancient AFNI charge off on mine, which I have been trying to get rid of.
