Experian Help

About 5 yrs ago I defaulted on 4 student loans, which I paid off a couple years ago. I made the mistake of paying these off instead of rehabilitating them. I also have 3 collection accounts (Verizon Wireless, Time Warner Cable-CMI, and LDC Collect Systems) which I paid off without doing PFD.  FYI, I paid these off before I discovered this forum.  Anyways Experian is preventing me from obtaining decent Credit Cards and it may prevent me from getting approved for an FHA loan.

EX is the only credit bureau that's reporting my student loans as severe lates (120, 150) as well stating payment after charge off.  Does anyone know of a good way to get them to stop reporting my student loans as severe lates.

Also has anyone had any success getting LDC Collect Systems removed from their credit report.  I have been fighting for like 9 months to get this removed but to know avail.

As far as the Verizon Wireless and TIme Warner Cable-CMI I just sent another GW letter to them this time though Planet Feedback, hopefully I get some good news.

My Fico scores are as follows:

639-TU

640-EQ

So I know its mainly what's on my Experian report that's killing me.

Re: Experian Help

Well it does appear you're in a bit of a tough situation, as certain companies and most collection agencies have little desire to delete a TL after it's already been paid off.  Your only recourse here is to continue to send GW letters.  I have read that Verizon is pretty good about responding through PFB.  The good news is that looking at your scores below, your TU and EQ scores should be high enough to qualify you, as mortgage lenders generally go by your middle score.

As far as getting CC, search for companies that pull only TU or EQ to increase your chances of getting approved.  Check out sites like whogavemecredit.  You may also want to look into getting a secured card that automatically unsecures after a period of time.

Re: Experian Help

You were right I talked to a loan officer and I was able to get a favorable rate on an FHA loan.  My current FICO scores are as follows: 659-EQ, 647-TU, 610-EX.  If only I could get those lates off my Experian report my score would shoot up into the upper 600s.

Re: Experian Help

I wish you luck on the student loan situation and hope they are willing to work with you on cleaning it up.  I had one loan go into default and they levied my tax return to pay it off before I even had the chance to rehab it (it was a small loan).  Now they are listing the loan twice under two different account numbers with different DOFDs, both negatives, and swear they have the right to do it.  I've sent in every bit of evidence I have proving I only had one loan to all 3 CRAs and all I get back are form letters stating how student loans are listed on a report.  I'm just about out of options and starting to look for an attorney that can help clear this up since the Dept of Education and the CRAs don't seem to care about the evidence that the second loan doesn't exist.
