home equity line of credit application resulted in a ficocredit score of 897.
Does anyone know why I would get 47 better than perfect??

Are you sure this was a FICO score? I suspect it was a FAKO score, probably Vantage Score. Call the lender ask them.

Actually, some of the industry option scores go up to 900.
