Does a dealer have a general idea if he can get a person financed?

I haven't had any credit for about 5 years and my score is slowly rising. TU: is 591 and EQ: 601

I'm getting ready to finish nursing school and am going to need to buy a car but I don't want to waste my time and get lead along if a dealer doesn't know by your credit report what he can do.

Sure, dealers can try to get you financing, but it's better to try on your own first, 'cause they can jack up the price and interest rate on you.

I did an on-line inquiry with a dealership and someone called me and told me what my chances were.  They gave me the required scores for the tiers of financing.
