Looking to get a loan but not sure where to go.

Hello!

I am looking to take out a personal loan. Between 3-5k. Will be used to buy a car and pay off a few small bills.

Last time i checked (2 months ago) my scores were between 620-653. Since then i have recieved two credit limit increases and have not been late on any payments.

3 inq, 5 credit cards.

I am trying to get the loan by myself (not with hubby) and my income is $14,000 a year. I know it is not much but hoping that there may be a place online that may be able to help and get funds fast. Also looking for a place that doesn't charge for paying off early.

Has anyone dealt with any online place that gives funds the next day? Or recieved a similar loan with similar credit score?

It can take a couple of days to join a CU.  But if you are a member of a CU, you can ask them.   Personal loans are unsecured.  They are fairly difficult to get without good credit.

It would be much easier to get a car loan.

Re: Looking to get a personal loan but not sure where to go.

Most of the apply, fund same or next day places have substantial APR's: we're talking 35% or so for the best of them, going up towards 200% in some cases.

They may want to see higher than 14k salary too.  Since you're looking for a car, I'd suggest trying to find a car loan, maybe through some place like Carmax that lends I think regardless of vehicle price and I believe has cars in the price range you're looking for.  Fact is as CreditDunce correctly suggests, a car loan is the easiest loan type to qualify for, and a personal unsecured loan is generally the hardest, or certainly the most expensive if we're talking sub and near prime levels, lot of places want gold-plated people.  The CU attempt is a good recommendation, worth walking in to a local one that you can qualify for and ask if they can help you in your situation, though they may steer you towards a car loan as well.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to pay the small bills out of the monthly left over by taking the decent financing on the car loan, rather than the much higher APR in the other cases; alternatively some place like Cashcall or Springleaf or any of their myriad of competitors can do everything you are looking for, but it's just financially suboptimal.

Re: Looking to get a personal loan but not sure where to go.

IF you can supply income verification via paystubs or tax returns, easiest loan you'll ever get honestly.

The only problem you have is financing a car at that low of a dollar value as you're going to have to find a lender that will play ball based on age and loan size, whereas most recent model cars (within the last 7 years) usually go for higher than that.  Dealership or Credit Union are likely the best options for you.

Re: Looking to get a personal loan but not sure where to go.

WIth a personal loan i was hoping to buy off a person- not in a dealership which is why price is lower.

I wouldn't mind paying for a higher priced car (whatever my approval amount would be) if  I went through a dealer.

I am however just trying to use my income and not adding my husband because we (and by we i mean he) are applying for a home loan early next year (feb-mar) and i dont want a car loan to affect that.  Otherwise i would make him apply for car loan since he has better credit and better income Smiley Happy

My first two children, their father passed away so they recieve survival benefits. It comes in my name (and will continue to do so for the next 10-12 years)

Even though it is for them, it does count as a income for myself. It is not taxable so i wouldn't have that to show. Would that be a big problem? I do have the papers which state the amount though.

Oh!

You want a credit union for that typically, they will do personal auto loans and then you surrender the vehicle title to them to secure it.  Shouldn't be an issue on the income verification I just don't know what they'll require: it happens with social security distributions as well so there's some process for it, I just don't know what it is.

I'd go ask that in the Auto Loans forum personally, might be someone with experience on that is this is a pretty low-traffic board when it comes to auto-experts.

Actually going to dump this post over there Smiley Happy
