Re: New Dodge Ram financing

Congratulations on your new Purchase! You have made a right decision going with a new truck. Especially if used for commercial purchases. It’s better to have one payment a month than being on the side of the road looking for towing and local truck shops that will charge you arm and a leg. U never know what and where might brake down on a used Diesel Truck. Since you purchased a new truck you know the amount of a monthly payment, now you can plan your finances accordingly around that payment. You have peace of mind down the road which is priceless. Trust me you will start making more money now with a new truck. You will be able to deliver and pick up loads on time every time. There will be no excuses that you broke down or DOT put you out of service. Thus building good relationships with dealers, brokers and customers. Plus not every body has 40K to throw on the used truck and it does not make sense to do so. It’s better to use those same 40K as a down payment for 2 more trucks, hire drivers and expand your business that will generate more income. APR is not that important as long as you make some principal payments and with a new Ram you have ability to do so!

I’ve yet to figure out how to quote a reply.

Lasvegas203, I see you’re familiar with the trucking industry. I’m fairly new at hotshotting but I know Hotshotters are an easy target for DOT. I just didn’t want to be put out of service or have any major issues with the truck this early in the business. You’re right about finances, I can now calculate how much I should be running per mile. I really appreciate your positive feedback, makes me more confident about the direction I’m going. Now just trying to find quotes for commercial insurance as the rates for new ventures has sky rocketed.

Yep, 6.7 HO 400hp and 1000 torque, Aisin trans with 4.10 gears. Majority of the trucks locally had $9k Cummins option which was only around 800ish and mid 300 hp with 68rfe trans and that was mated with an 3.42 or something similar or 3.73 so I’m happy with the powertrain.

Try Progressive Commercial Co. I have 1 million liability and 250K cargo insurance. Monthly payment is $650. I put 2K down when opened policy with them 2 years ago.  I transport cars, you should probably consider it too. With cars you can choose one direction and deal with the same dealers and brokers. With hot shot you travel all over the states. I don’t really like that. I’m getting new Ram as well this Month. Did the dealer approve you with Chrysler Capital or different financial institution? And what was the initial down payment? My credit is a lot worse then yours. Hard to believe but I neglected it past 3-4 years. Mine are as follows ( EQ 691, TU 694, EX 699 ) business generated 111K growth last year and 115K previous Year. And I don’t know why but my CK’s Vantage is 762. Missed Payments 90 Days late back in 2015 and one Missed payment back in the beginning of 2016. What are my Odds guys?

Re: New Dodge Ram financing

You definitely have the income for it. I say you have a high chance of getting approved. I put down $4k and was financed through Ally.

I’ve been getting quotes north of $20k with $4k down. I initially thought it was due to the trailer because it’s called a carhauler, it’s a 40’ lowboy flatbed but might just because I’m in CA and exceeding the 500 mile radius. Another buddy out in Florida just paid $37,500 for the year with a new 2019 3500 chassis cab and 2019 texas pride 3 car wedge.

Re: New Dodge Ram financing

That’s probably has to do with the Radius. Mine is 500 miles. 2014 Ram 3500 Laramie with 2018 50 FT Kaufman Trailer which I financed and has full coverage under this commercial policy. However the truck has comprehensive coverage with Geico which is $140 a month. Maybe that’s why it’s cheaper. 37000 a year for insurance is just outrageous.

Re: New Dodge Ram financing

Is your truck a chassis? If not, ever get hassled being over 65’? I called to get a quote from progressive since I have insurance with them for both my trucks and boat but the agent stated my USDOT number needs to be active for a year which is probably something new. Right now it’s all about calling and calling to find a quote under $20k.

Re: New Dodge Ram financing

No the truck has a Bed. But it’s a dually. They probably look at it as less commercial orientated. My DOT was like a Month old when opened a policy. That’s very strange

Re: New Dodge Ram financing

Truck has 8ft Bed. I’m not sure about this rule about the length. But I have CDL, and those SEMIs are a lot longer than we are, so there should be no issues on yours.
