Pay car off with rewards card

I was wondering if anyone has ever paid the balance of their car with rewards CC and immediately paid off the balance of card to collect rewards points? Can you actually do that if you have the funds available? Just a thought as I am selling my car in the near future.

As long as the loan company is willing to accept credit card payments then you should be able to this. Call ahead to see if they have a limit on how much you can pay via CC.

I tried to put a new car on AmEx one time. No dice - said they could do a small amount down on credit card, the balance had to be by check. I'd ask what they can do though, so sense leaving money on the table!

It might be possible to put it through with some sort of billpay rather than directly. You could look into it, but I think from what I've seen here that many times the fees offset any gain if you do it that way.
