Does anyone know what Chase's policy on getting a new bank account after burning them on a Chase credit card included in bankruptcy? Is there a waiting period? Thanks!
don't know the exact answer to the question but as a data point, I burned them pretty good in chapter 13 and had existing checking accounts with them, they never bothered me at all (actually they never filed a claim for the credit cards)....while I did open an account elsewhere in anticipation of them giving me grief I switched back to using Chase as my primary checking account about 6 months in and haven't had any issues at all and I'm 18 months in now
Usually it wouldn't matter since their products don't influence each other, but lately we've been seeing checking account denials and shutdowns for previous history. The question is whether a certain amount triggers the blacklist.

I know this is an old post, but did you have success? I’m in the same situation. I have a BOA account (their CC’s don’t interest me), but I would like to get back with Chase (Freedom as a stater again) someday. I’ve never had a bank account with them. I did however burn them for 5,500 in chapter 7 two years. My sister did add me as an authorized user on her Chase CC (19k limit) this past month. Hopefully that will help me get back in their good graces someday.
Your chances of getting back in are slim to none. Maybe just maybe if you paid them back. But still they have a looooong memory. Its easier to get back in with AMEX after paying the debt and get offered the Oasis/Optima card to prove yourself. Chase? They aren't forgiving. But best of luck yrs down the road.
I owed Amex (Blue cash reward CC) 2,300 dollars when I started my bankruptcy process. They were not included in my bankruptcy because they sold the debt before I was discharged. I've looked at all three credit reports, and they are nowhere to be found. It's like I never had credit with them before (Always paid on time for 3 years). The company they sold the debt to shows up as a charge off with a zero balance. Since they sold the debt and didn't get burned in BK does that increase my chances to get credit with Amex again? I do have a cab1 quicksilver one with the $3000 limit and a BMW card for 2500 that I just got this past month. Here are my current scores EX 695, TU 677 and EXP 685. I have a total of 101,350k in total credit available(73k as a AU) with only 10% UT. All of my cards that do have a balance on are below 30% UT. I plan to garden for 2 years (clean up the 12 inquiry's and 13 new accounts in the last 2 years) before I take a stab at Chase, Amex, Citi and Discover. I am an AU on my sister's Discover 17k, Citi 21k, Chase 19k and Barclay's bank 15k limit which she added me on all this past month. I hope that helps. She does use her Chase regularly. She doses not have an Amex anymore.

When I began the BK process, I owned Amex 2,300 (Blue Cash Rewards). They were not included in my Chapter 7 BK becuase they sold the debt to a collection agency before I was discharged. They don't even show up on any of my credit reports. I had an account with them for 3 years and always paid on time. It's like I never had an account with them. The collection agency shows up with a zero balance. Since they were not included do you think that inproves my chances with Amex? I can't seem to find a link for Amex Oasis/Optima card. Thank you for the advise.
Thats strange. If they werent burned. You can apply at the 5yr 1 month mark. The Oasis/Optima program is for those who paid their past balances and its by invitation only for a second chance. Good Luck!
