Called today and they weren't helpful, basically stated the credit inquiry could be a hard pull. That deterred me from submitting a request for reconsideration. They said they process could take up to 3 weeks and j would be noticed by mail.

I'm kind of bummed....not sure how some people call and get the recon results immediately.

If it were me, I would recom and plead my case. If it works, great. If it doesn't get the secured card, and just continue your rebuilding process.

Just remember, you have a long roads ahead of you. There will be a few bumps.

When you say they told you this are you referring to the recon with Cap1 or this is what NFCU told you?

Re: NFCU questions

I waited 2 months after discharge to apply for an NFCU card & they approved for $500. I got my first cli this month bumping me up to $7500. I also applied for the CLOC this past October (almost 7 mos post discharge) & they approved for $5000.

Be patience with them, they may not grant you any credit right now but in time they will.

Re: NFCU questions

I'm a newbie who just went through the same thing. I am 2 months out from BK7 discharge and was immediately approved for Cap1 with a 2K limit. I applied to a few CU's including NFCU, Alliant, and SDFCU. Hearing about the great success everyone has with NFCU I app'ed but was denied. Recon'ed and they said they are standing by their initial decision. Not sure if I want to go the secured card route so thinking of app'ing for discover and BOA (burned). If I get denied I'm hoping they counter with a semi-secured card. I'm really not feeling all of NFCU's hard pulls. I got a pull for membership and for the denial. I was also told I'd get another HP for the secured card even if I had applied on the same day. Luckily SDFCU is a SP for secured.

Re: NFCU questions

Thanks! I just hard to come to terms because this was a creditor I had an excellent payment history with but had to add them in bk. Less that 2k.

Re: NFCU questions

Ok so I contact NFCU today and my application is on hold as they cannot verify my membership with SD Navy League. They were not helpful in pointing me in the right direction for me to donate/pay a membership fee.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

If you joined through SD Navy League you should have a welcome email that includes your actual payment information and everything that is if you did it online... If you havent already just go redo the membership for Navy League and pay for it online...
