Nfcu blacklist question

HI all,

I am hoping to file bankruptcy in the next few weeks and have an account with NFCU, however it is just a a savings account with no loans or credit cards... Is this account at risk for being closed by them if they find out?

Thank You!

Re: Nfcu blacklist question

I guess it's always a risk. I filed a little over 3 years ago and my account is still open.

Best of luck!

Re: Nfcu blacklist question

Are you asking if NFCU will blacklist you, even if you aren't burning them? Because they shouldn't.

I just discharged last week, and I burned them for about $25k in unsecured debt. My checking and savings remained open and they never restricted access to my online accouts. I hope that helps.

Thank you for the. Reply, Yes I think that's what I'm asking.. I'm new to all of this terminology 😬. I am just getting nervous now reading posts of accounts being frozen and such, but I don't have a CC with them so I'm hoping it remains the same.

@shecky4185 Good luck! It might be a good idea to look at their secured card once you are discharged.

Oh yes, I can undserstand why you're nervous. When I filed, I did not realize that banks would immediately start restricting my access to my accounts. It was a total surprise. I use a local credit union for my car loan and a small savings (for paying the auto loan) and they immediately shut down access to the accounts. When I called their customer service, I had to speak with a special department, and I asked them to move money to pay my mothly car payment. Luckily, I signed the reaffirmation agreement shortly after that, and my access was restored. All of the banks I included in bankrutcy removed my online access, like I was never a customer. My deposit accounts (besides the credit union) all had normal access. Navy Federal won't black list you if they are not included in bankruptcy.
