Re: Scores are climbing but I have WAY TOO MANY inquiries. What can I do?

Your scores and inquiry situation is similar to mine. I have over 100 inquiries mostly auto dealer rate shopping me. As to why I allowed all of this is another story. Lol

Anyway, assuming you have a Capone cc. Your limit is most likely low. The only thing keeping my scores down right now other than my d-bk and inquiries is my credit card utilization. What’s your utilization? Possibly if you get that down to 9% or lower, and recon for a secured Discover card you could see a difference in your scores very soon. I have a NFCU secured card and I love it!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying.

My card utilization is low (~2 %) due to me being an authorized user on my mother's $23K NFCU credit card. How can I recon with Discover? Do you have a number handy? Here are my current FICO scores:

  • FICO 8 EQ: 602
  • FICO 8 TU: 561
  • FICO 8 EX: 587
  • FICO 9 EQ: 565
  • FICO 9 TU: 599
  • FICO 9 EX: 570

I hate that my scores are so low. On CK and Credit Sesame I'm over 620.

Oh ok, my utilization % is in the 90s. Which proves once again that everyone’s credit is unique.

Unfortunately I do not have a recon number for Disco except for the normal customer service number. Perhaps seeing if they could approve you for the secured card that graduates could help?

800-347-3085 is the number I’ve always called. But I can tell you if you don’t mind it being secured it has been worth it for me so far having them in my cc line up.

You got a car loan and thats really all you needed for best FICO scoring. More than 1 installment isnt needed. It will help your paying on time part of FICO and thats about it. So you can pay off Self Lender at anytime. The new car loan took its hit and as you pay it down your scores will go up. How long was the timeframe from the first to last HP for a car? FICO will score you as 1 inq. But lenders still see how many inq's you got. I'd let 6 months go by before you apply for anything else and let what you have age some more. At least get all your scores above 620. Right now your almost there. But scores are still a tad low. You can call Disco and ask if you can get the secured 1-800-discover.
