I have a new startup construction company and Im thinking of app'ing for an Amex business card. I'm a new Amex customer with a personal card of about 4 months.
My question to you all is, if I'm not approved for the business card do you think there might be a chance they will split the limit on my personal card with a new business card so I can develop business credit relationship with them?

50/50 chance of split
However if you have had a good 4 month history chances of approval are high depending on which card you select
All depends on when you got those other cards as well I see EX is mid range currently as of 5/2015
I'm hesitant because they denied me for Hilton card recently. Also what is considered mid range??

Mid range= scores 663
In most cases your Hilton denial was a SP so can't hurt to try for a business card with another SP
worst case they say no and you try again in 4 months or so
There is no need to split the limit. I use my Amex Plat for business and personal. Keep track of your business expenses and receipts for business items and pay those expenses through the business.
I have two payments on my Amex card each month, one from our business account and personal account. I do a lot of travel and I like the perks of Amex plat, I didn't want to pay another AF for a business card.
I would suggest you develop a relationship with your Bank's commercial lender and try to get yourself a credit line for your business. This will go along way in developing your business credit than a credit card from amex and give needed working capital for the growth of your business.
You can do this with any of your cards.

As it happens, I was approved for the Amex SimplyCash last month after four months history with the Everyday. I should note, though, that I've been in business for a long time. I'm not sure if that impacted their decision.
I was approved for the Everyday less than a month ago. Got approved for the SimplyCash Business card today.
