Hey folks... so here's my situation: I'm currently at 4/24 and planning on applying for both Chase Ink Cash and a personal card in a couple of weeks. I fully expect my personal application to be immediately approved, so I know to apply for CIC first so I don't push to 5/24. Let's say I get the "Pending" message upon completing my CIC app. Do I need to wait until I get an answer on CIC before even applying for the personal card, or will I be okay to apply for the personal card since I will have been at 4/24 at the time of CIC application?
Thanks for any advice and/or data points.
May I ask why you plan to hit both the CIC and personal card at the same time? Reason I ask is because I don't know if you want to flirt with apps coming all at once especially since you're at the 4/24 threshold. Chase is known for soft pulling your reports for a bit after a successful approval and I wouldn't risk that chance of AA being taken. I would hit the CIC first and get approved for that card, wait a few months and then hit the personal card after
re: flirting w/ multiple apps while at 4/24... yep, that's exactly why I was asking. I just didn't know if anyone had prior experience applying at that threshold while waiting on approval for a Chase biz card.
re: why... my original thought about applying for two cards on the same day was with CIC and Chase Freedom because data points suggest that two Chase apps on one day will result in only one HP. However, Freedom is now likely off my radar until 3Q 2020, and the personal card I was thinking of applying for is from Amex (so... two HPs). I'm gonna rethink the whole thing and possibly wait on CIC until my next card falls off of the x/24 counter in a few months.
Thanks for helping me clarify my thinking!
Hello, folks.
So I've had my eye on Chase Freedom and Ink Cash Business cards for a little while. Even had a plan mapped out to apply for both in the third quarter of this year, but a denial on an Amex BCP (based on old data, so thankfully a soft pull) has got me thinking about moving my Chase plans up to next week.
Here's what I've got...
726 EX FICO8 (don't have my TU or EQ scores, but they've all pretty much tracked together)
23% util
Currently at 4/24
CapOne Secured: $500 (1 yr, 6 months old)
Amex Cash Magnet: $2000 (1 yr old)
Amex SimplyCash+ Business: $2000 (8 months old, not counted toward 5/24)
Discover It Miles: $1500 (8 months old)
Citi DC: $1100 (4 months old)
I don't currently have a Chase checking account, but I did for a time in 2019. I do have a prepaid card through them and have for a couple of years.
I have a sole proprietorship with an EIN and a DBA registration. After knocking my utilization on my Amex business card down to below 10% before the next statement cuts, I was planning on taking those documents, plus my printed EX credit report and FICO 8 score into a local Chase branch with a Business Relationship Manager. (Frankly, I think that my chances on the personal card are better than on the business one, but if data points are true in suggesting that two Chase apps in one day result in a single hard pull, then why not?) If the BRM looks at my printed credit report and thinks my chances aren't great for either card, then I thank them for their time and leave without wasting the HP. If it looks good to them for at least the personal card, though, I'll apply for both. (Business first, of course, so as to not push me to 5/24 if approved.)
Crazy? Smart? Any other ideas? Thanks!
@Anonymous , I merged your thread with the previous one as they are both essentially the same question at hand. Please refrain from cross threading as it keeps other posters from answering the same question multiple times.
Good luck on your future apps.
