New business startup

My wife is starting up a new business and wants to keep everything separate from her personal cards.
Which banks may be 'new business' friendly to start a credit card with?

Re: New business startup

Most banks like Citi, Amex will give a "new business" credit since its mainly based on her personal credit due to PG.

Capital 1 is very easy toget.  The limit starts low but they will up it.  We have a Sig Biz Spark I like the straight 2 %

Re: New business startup

What they will probably start  her with is a Spark Classic   no fee 1% cash back.  Make sure she applies with the business name and employer id number.  C1 for biz does report to D&D so she will also need to open a free profile no need to pay D&B for credit builder.  The  starting limits for new business can run under $1K just don't panic.   Just  don't come to depend on credit to start the business.  My wife and I have been self employed all our  adult lives, 40 years  and never looked back.  In slowdowns I had to take a part time job for 6 months or so but was very lucky that I had a skill set in high demand.   GOOD LUCK

Re: New business startup

So I'm a little biased based on my experince, but I love my Amex business card. I also have NO experince with Capital One, I have always shyed away from them.

What I like about Amex, for small business use;

Website - One of the best for a credit card, lots of info, and they provide detailed data that comes in use at tax time

Biz Customer svc - With Business cards, the CS always seems to be state-side, and very helpful, I've had both the Biz Gold, and now the Platinum and CS has been amazing

Doesnt effect personal reporting - I can run up 10-12K and it not effect my personal credit profile. Thats useful for some client projects so I dont take a hit if billing overlaps a billing cyle - which happens quite a bit running my own consulting business.

Lastly, I rack up tons of points on my personal and business card, and reap the benefits for travel.

So there is my .02 worth.

Re: New business startup

If your personal credit is good then you'll likely have no problem getting an Amex business card. The underwriting is probably similar between their charge cards, personal and business. I'd try for an Amex first. Capital One as has been mentioned is easy to get, but reports to your personal credit. For a new business you may be carrying balances, so this will reflect on your personal credit profile, and isn't ideal.

Very few, if any,.  Certainly none of the major card companies report to your personal reports other than CapOne.
