I received an invite to apply for the businesss amex platinum (no prior amex), that was forwarded to my current address. I applied using my previous address as the invite was for such, and I didn't want to mess with the bonus.
Got approved, they shipped my employee cards USPS (so that's fine, I will receive them) but they shipped MY card via UPS overnight. I've tried contacting amex and ups and have effectively been told that that's where it got delivered (my old mailbox) and I am basically **bleep** out of luck, not sure if I should take the 5 hour drivand meet the new resident to explain my predicament?
Anyone run into this issue before? can I explicitly have amex re-ship my main card via usps?
thank you guys
Never face this issue before. I understand why you don't want to use new address for the application because sometimes the system wouldn't recognize the application with an invitation code. I never had that problem before so I am not sure. I think it is better to call Amex and explain to them your situation. Cancel it and ask Amex to send you a new one to your current address with a completely NEW card numbers. You don't want your card being used by somebody. Even if you have to drive to check on the card, you still need to cancel that card no matter what. Considered it as being exposed.
Update: I forgot to congratulate your for the approval. Congrats!
I guess I'm lost on if you used the old address...how would they have known to send it to the new address since the old address was on the application?
I know they are very good about "replacement" cards so if the 5 hour drive didn't work out, you may want to call and have them ship another to the different address. Ultimately, you'll need to give them the correct address
Oh and by the way, that's terrific! Congratulations on your approval!! 🎉🥂
true, i dropped the ball. will do, thanks guys.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!!!
Platinum cards and AU cards (assuming they are Platinum with the accompanying additional fee and not freebie Greens) will almost universally be shipped expedited. The AU cards may not be forwarded by the USPS to the new address as IIRC they do specifically state Do Not Forward, which is done for security reasons for both you and the lender.
This is a bit of a tricky situation as the application was completed with an address that you no longer lived at and presumably your business was no longer located? Unfortunately this may be a headache to straighten out as the application would have been done under false pretenses. Credit applications typically have a "previous address (if under 2 years)" field both to help thwart identity fraud (and to verify identity if your new address does not yet appear on credit reports) and because recent moves may statistically make one a higher credit risk.
I would contact Amex and be forthright with the situation. It is possible that it may result in account closure, but it's also completely possible that it could happen down the road with more disastrous consequences by having the account frozen and losing earned points if it's not addressed.
So I ended up applying from within my amex account for the business delta reserve, using the updated addresses and that was approved w/ a smaller than expected, but 10k SL.
So now technically, they do have the right address on file.. not sure if I am a genius or an idiot.
