Applying for cards for friends/family with them as usual. Go figure two different times after SPG approval, that I was able to use a VPN and get the prg50k offer to pop up. And both people had them go pending.
They both called in and were told it was for fraud prevention and that someone would be contacting them by monday. So there goes the liklihood of combined inquiries!
Any other numbers to call or options to push these through?
perhaps this is a stupid question, but why were you using a VPN to apply for a credit card?
I work in IT and just off the bat that seems like it would absoltutely throw a possible flag for fraud, especially if the VPN you used is in a different country.

gotcha! no the vpn was used to trigger the amex hard to find offers. We disabled the vpn and opened the link under a regular connection!

Not on the weekend. Monday is your best bet to check. And, I agree with the above poster regarding VPN, a recipe for fraud/delays if folks use that method.

Dang... that sounds like my kind of luck!
Last April I got both of my cards back-to-back with one HP, but this is an excellent reminder that with all things credit, YMMV.
Thanks for the data points... I am considering going for the PRG and/or ED later in the year. It sounds like if I want to be auto-approved it might be easier to simply do them different days, since there will likely be two HPs anyway if the second application gets 'stuck' - which seems likely if a VPN is used. (I'll also note that the only time I get the 50k PRG offer is when I use a VPN as well.)
jfriend33, sent you a PM.
Sometimes there is no option but to wait. If the department's closed, it's closed.
That's why I try very hard to apply on business days only. I'm impatient, and don't want to wait through the weekend when I could have just applied on Monday and gotten a (hopefully) quicker answer.
I know you wanted the merged HPs, but I caution against advising friends/family that that's a sure thing anyway. With the time delay though, you could well be looking at 2 HPs, unfortunately.
