18yr daughter looking for another card besides cap1

She has a Cap1 QS1 but want to explore other options. She has 6 months credit history coming this Dec 2 and every month she PIF. I dont think she has a fico score yet. Any CCC besides Cap1 that will give her a shot with a thin file with 2inq's on each file? Any suggestions are appreciated

I would wait until a score has been generated for her.  Discover loves thin files.

How would I find out a score? CK says 680 tu and 680 eq but I know CK scores are way off.

I would not go off the basis of ck.  I would check with Credit Check Total, as they give true FICO scores.  It is a $1 trial.

Two cards... Discover and Amex.. If she has a clean file and new to credit then those are the two cards she wants as they LOVE thin files!

+1 Once she has a score generated she will probably do well with Discover and Amex. Might also think about Chase Freedom as a possibility as well.

Well if she has CK score then most likely she has FICO score too, also she has QS for 6 months therefore she should have FICO score by now!

Given Discover has issued CC to people with no credit history in the past, I would say start with that. Take a look at her QS statements, if there are 6 of them showing then AMEX should be good too.

DISCOVER and AMEX comes with 2 separate free FICO Scores (TU and EX) monthly, it'll be a good way to monitor her score and having access to real FICO Scores for future.

On the side note, I wish my parents would educate me about Credit Scores and Credit responsibility when I was 18

I agree discover loves a thin clean profile. Is she in college? If so I feel like she is an approval for discover it student version. Or regular version, I'm not well versed on which cards want u to be 21 instead of 18.

Thanks for the input guys. Her only CC will turn 6 months on Dec 2 but her statement dont cut until the 15th so that will be her 6 statement so would it better apply after the 6th statement?

See if she can pull a FICO from here, if she can she is good for Discover/Amex now.  Try to pull Eq/Exp (EQ for Discover), (Exp for Amex)... Most likely she has a Fico now is my guess.
