2017 Wish List

I have been going through my cards lately and I am thinking about pruning some cards and replacing them. I am aware this will kill my AAOA but I am not two worried as I am not planning on making any big changes with my credit in the near future (mortgage/Auto).

PenFed Rewards Visa Signature --> PenFed Travel Rewards Amex

Care Credit --> USAA Limitless

Capital One Quick Silver --> Capital One Venture
Barclay Arrival --> Upgrade to Cash Forward (move CL from Jet blue)

Barclay Jetblue --> NFCU Flagship

Would love to get on the CSR card but I am at 10/24 right now with no preapprovals (Chase got burned in a BK 6 years ago, and from personal experience they generally wont start issuing preapprovals again until your 10 years out on a chap 7).

Thoughts?

Re: 2017 Wish List

I plan to app for 2-4 cards at the very end of this year. No more because I'm trying to get to 4/24 by Dec 2018. So, I will pick from the following list, in order I of importance to me:

1) A "real" AMEX. Right now I have the Optima Oasis rebuilder and I can't app for anything with them until after April 2017. Not sure which one yet.

2) Blisspay - I love the financing feature - recently was declined

3) Citibank DC or Simplicity

4) Cap One Venture- I need a good travel card

5) Bank Americard, or something else. I am determined to get them to let me in.

6) US Bank Cash+

7) Lowe's

8) Von Maur - this is a high end dept store that I love & this card never charges interest.

This year I will be closing around 6-8 card. They were all helpful during my rebuilding but I just don't need them anymore. Letting them age to a year plus & then will be closing them.

Why not close what you don't need but sit tight for a little bit before app'ing. Get under 5/24 and I'm sure Chase and Amex won't have a problem giving you whatever card you want.

I may do that. I'm not sure how long I will gardenbut it's at least 12 months if not 24. It is hard to be patient though!

I know it's hard but it's worth it. I've kept my inq's low and my score is 800+ and I can get any card I want. I got 2 cards in 2016 that I really wanted with instant approvals and great interest rates and high SL's.
