Re: 2nd Disco Card Questions

1 - I would call and recon - play nice with them and see. Bring up your other account (if used PIF, etc. ) Prove to them that you are managing your card well and chances are they'll review and increase.
2 - 90 days minimum
3 - Usually they'll transfer the balance or part of it (not 100%, maybe someone else can chime in on this)
4 - Unless you are using the benefits of both cards, I would combine into one, then down the road you can apply for another card since Disco only allows max 2 cards at a time.

Scores - All bureaus 770 +
TCL - Est. $410K

Re: 2nd Disco Card Questions

Good answers, x. Thank you.

As to 1, I had the 1st card maxed out for about 2 years straight. Recently made some headway which got me a 4K CLI to 12K total. But based on your suggestion I will call later to ask and then update.

Re: 2nd Disco Card Questions

I probably ought to call Discover directly and get better information about whether it's possible to reallocate part of the CL from my older card to my newer card. I asked them the question via secure messaging and the answer I got back read as being distinctly canned to me, since they used most of the space explaining how to get a CLI (which I already know how to do).

Re: 2nd Disco Card Questions

Unlike some banks who may be able to reallocate CC limits between some products with great flexibility, Discover isn't really one of them unless either account is eligible for a CLI. Otherwise, they will not be able to move CLs.

Re: 2nd Disco Card Questions

Joe: I got a CLI on my old card last month so I called in and that's when they told me the rules. It was a supervisor that I had been transferred to for the realloc. He said just call back when (if) I had a credit limit increase available on the new card after 90 days. He even told me my date.

I figured why not keep both cards for each of their benefits, aging, and get CLIs on both. I saw someone on here who has $28k+ on both cards. Anywho, it is possible. The rep probably just wasn't aware of it. If you try again and they say no, maybe you could find out what their reason is?
