Re: 2nd Sallie Mae

I would definitely want to try this card again in the future once I've established more history with Barclays. I heard they like six months between apps or something.

Tradelines: Macy’s - $18k, Penfed Power Cash Rewards - $10k, Ethan Allen (TD Bank) - $5.7k, Kay Jewelers - $5.5k, Appliances Connection - $5.3k, Jared - $5.25k, Best Buy (Citi) - $5k, Dell Preferred Account - $3.5k, Samsung - $3.2k, Firestone CFNA - $3.2k, Capital One Platinum - $3k, Mercury MC - $2.25k, Williams Sonoma - $2.1k, Wayfair (Fortiva) - $2k, Amazon Store Card - $1.8k, Apple Card - $1.7k, NFCU cashRewards - $1.5k, CareCredit - $1.5k, B&H Photo - $1.5k, Adorama - $1.25k, Ebay MC - $1k, Sam’s Club MC - $1k, American Eagle - $1k, Ollo MC - $600, Mission Lane Visa - $500, NY & Company - $500, Walgreens - $500, Home Depot - $500, Target RED Card - $500, CapOne Secured MC 0 AF - $500, Penfed Overdraft LOC - $500

Current FICOS: Mid 640s-50s on all reports, Ch 7 BK D/C Aug 2019
Starting scores: EX - 534, EQ - 574, TU - 516 | Total TLs: $91k approx | Total Utilization: 17%, getting this back down

Re: 2nd Sallie Mae

I was instantly approved for 5K Rewards MC only 4 months from Sallie Mae first denial. This 2nd Sallie Mae app i am at 3 months with Rewards MC with Denial number 2. I don't go away easy when challenged and Barclay's is pushed back this time but in another 4 months will app for the 3rd time, as they say is the charm. We'll see.

I wouldn't waste another HP.

Recon it till you're blue in the face.

Then go in once more.

The way i see it i have 2 more Recons for it left on the table before they completely dismiss it. I'm going for a girl recon this time. They seem more receptive IMHO. I want that final card for the year so i don't start apping again in 2015. It;s my fullest intention to go the full 12 months all the way up to 2016 without a single app if at all possible, and AFAIK that hinges completely upon the final outcome of Barclay's recon decision at this point for better or worse PERIOD.

Call blocked number.

If you get the Foreign sounding one, Hang up. If you get a Midwestern sounding one, Proceed.

HUCA may not work well with them since they take notes, but If you already burnt two HP's on them I'd be ringing their phones off the hook.

Re: 2nd Sallie Mae

After reading this i really want to app. This is probably my most used card. I started with $2500 limit and they did up it to $4350 maybe that's a good sign.

Re: 2nd Sallie Mae

Would having a better profile or something get me a higher starting limit? I also want the WMC version. That's what it showed when I was app'ing but if you don't get that you get regular MC which is what happened last time.

Last year I had 758 TU score, 5 INQ, I think my balances were like 1300/4800, 66/500, 870/3500, 200/1000

All my inquiries are over a year old and I want to wait to app so they'd age more. My score is 775. I don't have balances on bunch of cards anymore. I'm trying to stay in the garden it's been 6 months last time I lasted 7.

Re: 2nd Sallie Mae

Not necessarily true about Barclays liking 6 months between apps. Of course, YMMV, but I got my first Barclays (Sallie Mae) 3 months ago, and I just got approved for their US Airways (granted, I was targeted for a better signup version of this, so perhaps my chances were a bit higher to begin with).

Maybe it was a fluke but I was offered the WMC with a $1,500 limit.

When I called to recon it, I was told there was already a pre-approved CLI waiting for me. $2,000 SL!

So.....Maybe it has something to do with all the recent barclay cards being upgraded in status.. Maybe? Smiley Happy

Wife got instapproved for the US Airways WMC with 5 months history on her Rewards MC that still has a paltry limit of $1,500.
