Re: 3-Card App Spree - Need some solid advice

I'm new to this whole forum thing, so bear with me. Credit Karma "refreshes" the FAKO score every 7 days or so when no major changes really occur. However, when you allow a CC company to initiate a hard pull, CK will instantly notify you, given you have alerts/notifications set up. I app'd for the US Bank cash+ today and they pulled TU five seconds after I submitted the app, so I'm pretty sure this is how CK works for all HPs.

Listen, I have Elan, which is a subsidiary of US Bank and DW has US Bank.

True enough CK only updates everything once every seven days, but certain changes cause it to update early. Anytime you get a inquiry, it notifies you push notification immediately, if it’s from TU or EQ.

***Edit: As StrykingSquirrel said..., btw, welcome!*****

Most likely Barclay and U.S. Bank will both pull TU, Barclay is more conservative and U.S. Bank may follow them. Even if not, it will give you a better chance for later... If you’re that worried, app US before Barkley, but I think you have a better chance of succeeding with both if you do as I instructed.

No they see the inquiries before they make their decision so they can’t retract their decision like that. Yes some lenders have seen the new accounts after the fact and backtracked, but I don’t think that will happen if you do just three no more than four. I told you I did five. That’s for people they see as abusing and flagged for abuse this is not something you do all the time.

Absolutely most certainly do it online! Do not attempt it any other way. Wait until after 12 o’clock, so that it’s done on the second. That way in the future you will be able to isolate aging points from inquiry points.

Re: 3-Card App Spree - Need some solid advice

For US Bank, my own research on the cash+ from these forums lead me to believe that an history with US Bank is the best way to go about getting the cash+. If you have no history, then going inside a physical branch may be the best option, as they may be able to do some voodoo magics. If neither are possible, then just app online. I ended up doing just that but I recieved a notice of review and I won't know for 7-10 days. I guess US Bank likes to manually review apps more than other lenders.

If you don’t have a relationship with them, the way that seems to yield the best results is applying for the Gold checking account and the Cash + as part of that app (it will give you a list of cards to choose from during the app, just hit more options and the Cash + will show up) - the Gold checking has a monthly fee unless you have a credit product with them so it’s a good way to push the UW to be a bit more lax when you’re promising them a deposit account too.

Saeren has an excellent point. They definitely give more consideration to someone who is going to have a checking account as well. They are very conservative. I revise my recommendation to the exact same, except to the extent that when You app for US Bank, I would do it exactly as described here by Saeren.

@StrykingSquirrel

First of all.....Welcome to myFICO forums.

When you app'd US Bank did you put Sagestream/ARS on ice first? Or did you just leave them open?

I'd really like you to come back and update when you get your notification if you don't mind. Would be good feedback. Those reviews are what I kind of dread.....then you have to try to get Recon if they deny.

@Birdman7

Ok, so human eyes on the app's is not recommended, gotcha.  If I can get past Chase and Barclay not spooking each other, I'll just have to decide then about US Bank or Citi. (or both) Hopefully StrykingSquirrel can give me some feedback.....having recent info is always golden.

Good advice about CK too, thank you. Never really noticed how they updated back when I double-app'd my Citi DC and Discover. Makes perfect sense regarding EX too, if neither of the other 2 notify.

So, if there are PreQ's available, should I use those or should I just cold app? Any advantage there?

@Saeren

I actually called US Bank the other day and inquired about the gold checking/credit card app. I posted the following link regarding my conversation with her. So, I'm not so sure....

I am on the East Coast. (SCar) When you say app after 12 I assume you mean noon for me?  I'm also a bit unclear what you meant with that statement, could you clarify just a little?

I saw that thread and my suggestion to you would be to app for the checking and credit card together - if you’re denied for the checking, you’ve still got the credit card app in anyway, but it makes no sense to tell someone that they have to build a relationship with a credit card before a deposit account — that’s one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. A credit card is far riskier than a checking account.

Re: 3-Card App Spree - Need some solid advice

You know, that was honestly my same thought process, as checking accounts generally use SP by banks. And it made no sense why they would have the credit card tied together with the checking account if you had to "build a relationship" with the bank.

But I was basing that off the conversation I had with her. Maybe she was incompetent?

I have read, however, if you do go the checking acct/with credit app combo, they will NOT allow checking account with Sage/ARS on ice. But then, the credit card app solo works better with them on ice.  So not sure how that all ties together. The Cash+ card is so sexy....why does US bank have to be such a PITA.
