Because of that, I also went to re-check the Ducks Unlimited information and found out that I can not get any FNBO CC's in my area. So....looks like it's back to the drawing board.
Ducks Unlimited isn't geo-restricted, I'm in NM and I was able to get it. Their co-branded cards are avalible to all. You just need to go to their website: https://www.firstbankcard.com/ducksunlimited/landingpage/visaplat/?sub=000
There is the possibility of denial due to high amount of inquiries, as they are sensitive to them, but you should be able to get it.
@Anonymous wrote:I haven’t seen anyone say the Co-op got shot down, do you have links to such? The Co-op is becoming a part owner in the Co-op and Nusenda is their credit union partner so the co-op should really be considered an SEG. It’s not one of those groups that exist purely to get people into credit unions by dodging eligibility requirements and you’re doing something great for the communities that the credit union serves to boot.
Yeah, you're serving my educational needs!! Nusenda used to be New Mexico Educators CU, and since I'm in NM....
Nusenda is a good CU, I had a savings account with them for a while and they always treated me good, but I was in their location. I don't have their card due to my Discover and my gas being covered elsewhere, but they do cover educational costs (5%, 3rd quarter) which is awesome.

StrykingSquirrel: can you tell me do they require a HP to join? And if so, from where? or is it just an SP or a chex? Any info is appreciated
I can't say for certain, as I only joined for the savings (as a college student here in NM). I am 99% certain they didn't HP my records, as nothing ever showed up for me, but that was about...3-4 years ago? I don't know how they operate now, since I closed my savings with them and moved it to Discover online savings. I do have a couple of co-workers that have it, so let me ask them and I'll get back to you.
I just walked into a branch right after I typed my last post, and asked them about the process. They would't tell me exactly how they check your credit, but the teller there said that they definitely do check credit reports to verify that you do not owe money to any other institution. Some debt on CCs are fine she said, but any recent BK, charge-off, or loan default can be a reason for denial. She also said its easier for students/teachers to by-pass some of these issues, if they can prove enrollment and/or work location. I'm not sure about out-of-state applicants.

I went to the FNBO website https://www.fnbo.com/personal-banking/credit-cards/ When I input my zip code, it tells me "Unfortunately we do not offer this product in your area." This was evidently for all credit cards through them, as I never even made it to the CC list. I took that to mean that it was a GEO-restriction. Maybe I should just try through the link you showed, but it still leaves questions.
Try going right to the Ducks Unlimited card page.

Yeah, I tried using your link and I am geo-restricted as well, but those are for the actual FNBO credit cards through the CU (I looked up a ZIP code in Nebraska, entered it, and looked at the offers). You will have to use the link I gave you to app for the Ducks card. I know it seems a little sketchy, but that's what I used.
Once you apply, you can always call to check the status of the app. DO NOT do what I did and accidentally app twice for the card! I closed the other one and it messed up my CR slightly (opened and closed within a week LOL).

@Taurus22: FNBO doesn’t offer products outside their area except for the co-branded so you have to use that link, I think.
@StrykingSquirrel: yes almost all banks run a chexsystem to make sure you don’t owe other institutions etc. i’m not worried about that. I’m just worried as to whether they do a HP or SP and if so, to which one of the three bureaus? can you please find that out for me? I would be very grateful! I am praying it’s a softpull to become a member and open just a savings account nothing else.
LOL, alright so I called one of my friends that is a banker at Nusenda and he said that they will HP for membership, and that it is EX in his experience. They must have changed their process from when I became a member 4 years ago. So, my recommendation is if you are planning to become a member, might as well app for the CC as well, so they only use 1 HP.
