Congrats on the CLI, why are you frustrated with BoA though? They just gave you a CLI. lol

I am def happy with the CLI I would just prefer to also have one of their rewards card.  I guess after getting some really great cards recently I just hate having this card that has no perks or benefits.

If they don't PC the card it's not the end of the world.  I don't really use the card I have a balance of $3 right now.

I did chat with BoA rep again today and submitted another request to PC the card.  My account is under review now... I will know their answer no later than 4/20/2016.  Fingers Crossed!

@Anonymous: Which recon number should I use? Last time I tried, I called BofA:  866-811-4108  (Credit analyst - existing cardholders) ~myjourney.

If I can at least get the AF waived, then I'd have no reason not to close this card. At the moment, its my longest open account so I know that if I close it, i'll take a pretty significant hit on my AAoA.

That's not true about the AAOA. The closed account will remain on your report for many years (up to 10) after closure, so your AAOA won't be impacted anytime soon by closing, and your existing accounts will be that much older by then.

To me, fighting to get upgrades and CLIs on secured cards is a losing battle. The card serves a purpose -- to build some history -- and after that, I'd say just close it and apply for something better.  You have plenty of new approvals on decent cards, so I wouldn't keep wasting time and energy on making your BOA secured card better.

The BoA card now unsecured which is why I am looking to PC the card.  But your point def makes sense as it relates to the Cap1 secured card that I still have.

Congrats on the increase. I would definitely call again and see if you can PC it to something else now. Maybe you just got a bad rep.

I took your advice and did an online chat with a BoA rep and requested to PC my Platinum Plus Visa.  I was told my account will be reviewed and they will get back to my no later than 4/20/2016.  So this is def a step in the right direction... will keep you posted.

Good luck - I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Re: A bit frustrated with BoA - need advice!!

Just wanted to give everyone an update.  I received an email notification this morning that my case was resolved and closed but I need to call in to receive their final decision.  I called and found out that my application to upgrade the card was APPROVED!!!  They upgraded the card to the BoA Cash Rewards credit card.  I should receive the card in 2-4 weeks.  Not sure why it will take this long but that's ok - I am in no rush to use this card.  I am currently working on getting to the appropriate spending limits on my new cards to get the bonuses.

So all in all everything worked out REALLY well.  I received an amazing CLI and now have a rewards card instead of a dud.  Thanks again to the advice of the MyFico forum and I now have another nice card to add to the collection.

Re: A bit frustrated with BoA - need advice!!

Congrats on your success, OP! I will try and duplicate your success myself today. Hoping for the TR card, myself.

UPDATE: Called CSR using the number on the back of the card. Told them that I wanted to do a PC, specifically to the TR card so that I don't have any more FTFs. Within 10 minutes, was approved to do the PC, and no additional credit check required. I think it helped that I was already a BofA customer with a checking account, and also that my card recently had a FTF on there. In any case, I can attest that after your Secured Card graduates, it is possible to do a PC to other BofA cards. If at once you fail, just try again, lol.
