Guessing a denial if 7-10 day phone message. Although your profile sounds like it qualifies for it and verification wanted to transfer you to lending.. Be interested how this plays out.
Im wait it out its strange though that rep didnt seem to bright how can i have been sent a letter yesterday when i apped late last night just strange.
I have always had instant approval with Chase. But, got in with Amazon first, then went for Freedom with mailed and online pre qual in March. I REALLY think it helped my AARP app that I had an AARP member number, look like it pulled my info over from AARP as well.
So, my internal score with Chase is good. I do tend to treat them well, and they voluntarily upgraded a card to aavsa early.
They might just like older folks.
Recon might be tough, but since you took the hp, you might want to try. With Chase, the more interaction with lending, the more your file is under the microscope. My interaction with lending to move limits was pleasant, not everyone has reported this. So indeed, a YMMV situation.

I agree with some of the various reps not being too bright, but this actually makes sense.
If the letter you were sent was automated, it would appear to the rep as being sent 'yesterday' even if it was late last night, since technically that's still 'yesterday' calendar-wise.
Im avoid lending unless i get a letter saying i was denied then i will recon
