I applied for a Blue Cash AMEX card and they asked for a check stub and a copy of a utility bill. I submitted both, and the message the website is giving is “IN PROCESS.” How long does it take to process and when will I know if I’ve been approved or not? I wouldn’t think that they would ask for all of that if they weren’t going to approve me would they?
It could go either way. I've heard Amex taking up to 2 weeks for review. I hope everything works out to your benefit. Good luck!
Loquat do you know what the process consists of? I would think that if they were going to decline, why take 2 weeks to do so?
It more than likely just a matter of reviewing the information submitted against what you've included in the application. I believe the wait time if more of allowance for them to get to your submitted documents and make a decision. There are instances where the decision comes sooner than the 2 week window...Amex just ask for that much time to review as to possibly curb folks from calling daily for a status update. I could be wrong but that's the impression I've gotten from being around these here forums.
Yeah if they're asking for verification it sounds like you're likely to be approved. It takes time because someone actually has to physically look at your documentation and make sure they are satisfied that you are who you say you are. Just be patient.
The first Amex card I applied for I filled out the paper application. Got a letter a few days later saying my app was received and under review. Got the card in the mail three weeks later.

It's certainly better than a FR down the road while you're trying to use the card.
