Just an update on my journey to get the 3x CLI on my BCP account with AMEX. I followed the advice of my fellow FICOers and called today (Day 62 since account opening) to request the increase. The agent that I spoke with was very sweet but said that there was nothing that she could do for me. Interestingly enough, she needed income verification before she was able to put the request in to give me that disappointing news. She also said that there were no offers available for me that would indicate that an increase was in my near future but that she would message the marketing department to let them know of my interest in a CLI. About 15 minutes after my call I got an email request for AMEX to request my tax transcripts. I was about to complete the necessary paperwork but then decided to try to get the increase on my own. From the website I went through the steps for the increase. At no point was there any indication that a HP would be done on my CRs so I hit "Submit" thinking I would be taken to a page that would allow me to be able to enter varying amounts to see if (and for what amount) I could be approved. My intent was to "back out" as others have advised and enter lesser amounts until I hit that sweet spot where income verification was not required. Nothing. After hitting the "Submit" button I immediately got the dreaded response about notification within 14 days...blah, blah, blah. At that point I called back AMEX wanting to clarify whether a HP was done. The first agent I spoke with was totally uninformed, telling me that AMEX does not issue CLIs on new accounts until after 6 months. I asked to be transferred to the CLI Department, which he was gracious enough to do. From there I spoke to a more knowledgeable agent who worked with me to get the increase. It was not the 3X that I was requesting but I'm fine with it ($28k vs $40.2k) since I ended up not needing to do the income verification.
Thanks to everyone for all the advice on how to navigate this journey. In August 2013 when I filed my BK13 this day (7/30/2020) seemed very far away and I never imagined that my credit would get back to preBK levels so quickly. I cannot thank you all enough.
