@HeavenOhio wrote:@TheFIGuy, what's your current limit? The reason I ask is that cards with a 1k limit or below are notoriously hard to budge. If you start out with even a hair higher than 1k, chances of receiving a CLI improve tremendously.
In the past, 700 has been enough to keep scores from getting in the way. But it seems like that number might be inching up recently.
3k Starting Limit.
Oddly, I was denied for the same reason, same score today. I called and spoke to someone in the credit limit increase department who stated that even with a higher score it might be denied based on the reasons creating the score. I had not heard that before. My limit is currently $2,000 on Amex Cash Preferred.

That's interesting, so what are your reasons?
Might have some good DP's for others looking to request an AMEX CLI and save some people the 91/day wait.
Serious delinquency (from March - mortgage) - this is my guess since that was the only delinquency.
Number of accounts with delinquency (from my Student Loans showing a 30 day late in 2017) - working on goodwill letters.

Interesting, I, too, have student loans that have past delinquencies. Great Lakes didn't budge on removing/goodwill them after the rehabilitation, so I'm basically stuck with them for now.

- EX FICO 8 Score 710 (Via the Letter)
- My score has gone up since card approval with no new account (yet)
- Reason(s) for our Denial Decision
- Your FICO Score
@AverageJoesCredit This is in response to the comment about me applying for the AMEX CLI too early. Looks like they just didn't like my FICO score. So here is to 6/months or 181/days of waiting...
Sorry. My last request was listed denied due to low score, 714. I just took it as a no.
