AMEX Manual Review

I decided to apply for the Gold as today is the last day you can get the rose gold color.  I'd like to start to build my relationship with them anyway and got the 50k bonus offer before applying.  I applied online and got a denial then called to have it placed in manual review.  They wouldn't connect me to an analyst after a few calls. I have to wait 3-5 days for a decision.

EX: 719

5 INQ past 6 mo.

Chase 8k AU 14% Util 5yrs old perf history

Store card $5k 0% util

First Premier (crap) CO but paid $420

$5k Cap One (not yet reporting on EX)

2, 4 year old verizon CO's for around $430 (family member created these so I'm still working on it)

Anyone with experience have a feel for their likely decision?

Re: AMEX Manual Review

Hi Fresh-

I think Amex will take issue with the 2 unpaid Verizon COs on your reports.  They will approve (barely - low starter limit) with a single, paid derog and short credit history --  but a short, thin credit history with 3 major derogs - 2 of which remain unpaid - is very high risk.  I hope you luck out with an approval but believe your chances are slim.  Also-  AUs mean nothing to underwriters because you are not legally responsible for the debt - so they tend to be ignored.

Good luck!!

Re: AMEX Manual Review

This is definitely going to be a toss up OP.

The current collection items are definitely going to be a factor even on manual review. Unfortunately, there's no direct contact to any of their UW/analysts. The front line folks simply take down the information and pass it on to their team.

You can periodically check the status of your reconsideration online to determine its final outcome.
