AMEX aprovals

Hello all,

First post here but have been reading for awhile. My question is this, I was just recently approved for the American Express Delta Gold card for 2k last Friday (8/3/18) and was wondering if I should try applying for another AMEX with cash back rewards as well. I was looking at either the American Express Cash Magnet, or the Blue Cash Everyday. When I was just sent the Delta card my FICO attached was 683. I was wondering how likely I am to be approved for a second card, and if so when should I apply and which to go for?

Hi OP and welcome to the forums!

Have you done the math to determine which of those two CCs will yield the best benefits rewards-wise or provide the benefits that fit your spending? Have you checked to see if you pre-qualify for any additional AmEx cards?

Re: AMEX aprovals

I got the Cash Magnet and Everyday cards one day apart at a cost of 2 HPs, so definitely check the prequalify page first.

Good luck!

Re: AMEX aprovals

Thanks for the warm welcome. From my understanding, both of these cards are almost the same in terms of cash back. I am just not sure if one is viewed to be more valuable than the other, or easier to get? I have tried to look into the prequalify section on American Express but every single time I do, the page neved loads and displays a message that there was a problem.

Re: AMEX aprovals

Congrats on both of the cards. If I understand how AE works correctly; if you were already an AMEX customer and then applied for a second card, the initial inquire would result in a SP if denied, but then if approved would result in a second HP? Do I have this correct?

Re: AMEX aprovals

That's not necessarily true. Existing customers can get new cards without a HP at all. In February I got approved for BCE w a HP(first card), next day PRG (HP) with 50k SUB. Since then I've added HH and Delta Gold both SP. I'll be adding Platinum and EDC in a few months.

Also BCE is a 3/2/1 card where Cash Magnet is a general 1.5% CB across the board.
PERSONAL; Amex | AOD FCU | BBVA | BECU | Capital 1 | Chase | Citi | Discover | Key | NFCU | PSECU | SECU MD | Synchrony | US Bank

Posted this to another thread earlier today....for what it's worth!

I can only share my experience, but you may want to have some of the more experienced users weigh in... I, too, read right here in the forum about the AMEX 2 for 1. Was skeptical, and leery given where I was score-wise (not far from where you are now). In January this year I applied through CK (believe it or not) and was approved for both the AMEX BCP and the PRG on the same day. Only 1 Exp inquiry. The 2-for-1 TOTALLY worked for me. I just recently added the Plat via online invite, and was a SP. So far, 3 AMEX, only 1 HP. Again, this is my experience, and I wish you the best as you decide how to move forward; and of course, all the success should you decide to apply!

Re: AMEX aprovals

Hi everyone!

I'm new in the forum and while searching in the web about AmEx I was led into this site.

I'm planning to inquire for AmEx but the prequalify option doesn't work. Smiley Sad

Re: AMEX aprovals

You're not alone, I still cannot seem to get the prequal page to load for me. I've tried clearing cookies, and using multiple devices and browsers all with no luck.

Re: AMEX aprovals

Thanks for all the insight and congrats on all of your AMEX success. I am debating on whether or not to pull the trigger and go for the BCE. Now I'm also debating on whether or not I should wait until I fulfill my requirements for the bonus miles on my Delta Gold.
