I decided to apply for the Blue Cash Everyday Card through an Amazon banner because of the Amazon CB offer, I currently have an Amex Cash magnet card opened about 30 days ago with no curent balance. I logged in with my account info and submitted the prefilled app with my info but received a message it could not be approved at this time. I got an email a minute or so later telling me I could check on my decision, and when I log in there and next to the app details under Status Of Application it says "Provide required information", and to the right of that under Action Required it says "To view the full decision details click here".
The problem is when I click on the link and enter my birthdate info it says "Sorry, your application cannot be accessed.
Please try again later." So it looks like I am going to have to call to find out what is what here.
Just seeing if anyone has experienced this before and has any idea if I am just outright denied, or if it is identity verification or...?
I do have credit freezes I temp lifted for the process so I assume it isn't an issue there.
If you have experian frozen you should unfreeze it and try calling recon. It could be that your report was frozen and they need to do a HP (or probably couldnt do a SP for some reason?)
Thanks for replying. I think I will call Amex this afternoon. I did temporary lift the freeze on my Experian - but it's possible I didn't give it enough time to process before submitting the app. I'll update when I learn something after calling.
Thanks!
Werll that was not helpful calling. The automated system says my application for BCE is approved - yet the agent says that since it is in the same family as my Cash Magnet card that I can only have one account of that "card family". No explanation of why the system displays "provide required information", no explanation of why I can't view the decision letter online, no explanation of why the sutomated system says my application was approved.
Is this true? If I already have a Cash MAgnet card I cannot also apply for and receive the Blue Cash Everyday that offers the 20% back on Amazon purchases $200 bonus?

I find this to be unlikely unless something has changed very recently. AMEX doesn't restrict you getting all cards in a family if that is what you want i.e. holding multiple versions of the Delta, Blue, and Hilton cards as examples. The only roadblock to this is the cap AMEX has for the number of revolvers one can hold at any one time. Very YMMV but I think the soft rule is 4 revolvers and from there is evaluated on case-by-case basis. Best guess is the customer service rep is misinformed here. I would try getting a hold of another rep and see what they have to say
I only have the one AMEX card, so it can't be the 4 revolver thing.
I tried two different agents, but their answers were similar and contradicting. One said to aply again in 30 days and it would be approved right away, the other said that since they're part of the same "family" (?) that it wouldn't make any difference. Neither rep instilled confidence in their knowledge, and neither could explain anything about what the various phone and online messages mean.
I am thinking I will try to call the backdoor/recon line and see whats what there. It's odd that the automated phone system says my application is "approved", yet in the online "check application status" portal it has a message saying "provide required information", with neither a denial, approval, or processing message. Is it possible my app is approved as the automated system says and a card is on the way, or is it more likely I am caught in some weird glitch thing?
Kind of frustrating to get this poor of service from AMEX.
There are plenty on here who have either BCE or BCP and CM, like @Anonymous for example, so that info is not correct.
I can't speak for the technical issues, but would ask for assistance from supervisor, for clarification on app and tech issues.
It might simply be the timeframe of last approval!!
Have a question. I looked more into this and the most recent datapoint suggests that if there was an "excessive" amount of applications in a short period of time the notice you received on the online status page is indicative of a cancellation of the app
What's your recent application/approval history?
I applied for the Cash Magnet card on 11/4 and was approved and currently havee that account.
Possible the two apps within a 30 day window is the issue? I applied for the BCE through the Amazon banner offer on 12/2
EDIT: Aftre reading that thread it appears likely that my app is "cancelled" as well. No clue why the automated says approved - but I'll still call againand see if I can whittle down all the whats and whys.

Yes, I think so. The first rep saying that if you wait 30 days and apply again with a good chance of an approval makes sense now. The second rep has no clue what they are talking about as far as not being able to get another card in the same family
I don't know what the cooldown period is for apps since you slightly jumped the gun here on re-applying. Basically, I don't know if you can try again right away next week or got to wait 30 days from last app date. I didn't see any expiration date on application splash page for the current signup offer so you might be good for waiting unless you wanted to use the Amazon offer for some holiday shopping
