I requested AMEX for CLI for one of my cards (5k). In the previous rounds, it was granted immediately (total CL for multiple cards~30k) but now they requested me to call them. Does anyone know what they plan to ask?
No negatives, no balance.
It sounds like a denial from what I’ve read. Let us know who it turns out.
No need to call; in that email there is a reference number. Go here and enter it: https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome_loc.do
Has it been at least 181 days since you were approved for a CLI on any of your Amex accounts, and at least 91 days since any denials?
This site shows that the decision is finalized but could not see the decision details (giving error). Anyway, I think, the prior request was below 6 months ago. The other suspect is that the toal CL is going above ~34-35k (might be higher than some thresholds).
You will be denied automatically and get the email to call if you ask prior to 181 days. There's no need to call, they'll just tell you that you must wait more than 180 days (hence 181) between credit line increases on any American Express accounts that you have. If it were a matter of the credit line requiring income verification, you would have instantly received a request to complete a 4506-T form instead of a "we'll notify you of our decision in 7-10 days" or similar message. I'm speaking from far too much experience on both of those the past year or so. LOL

Same thing happened to me last month when I went for my first 3x CLI. I requested a increase and then received an email to call. I did and the representative kindly stated that 'the account had only been open for 59 days and to try to tomorrow'. Tried the next day and got a 33% increase. Wasn't bad since my starting limit was already 10K and I had only accumulated a $159 balance in those 60 days. Will definitely be putting AMEX to use over the next few months! Hope it works out for you.
