AMEX 'unable to approve' letter

My DW just got her letter, it say:

Thank you for your recent request for a credit limit increase. We're writing to let you know we are unable to approve your request at this time.

Reason(s) for Our Decision

Our scoring of your credit and other relevant information (see below)

We evaluated your application using a credit scoring system that considers various pieces of information including your credit report. The following key factors contributed to our evaluation:

The lenght of time you have been a cutomer with American Express is too short.

The average of your payments in relation to the balance on your American Express account(s).

Yes, the time is too short, can't do anything about that. She is AU on my card since 10/14 and got 2 cards for her. But the average payments? My Amex is at $0, and her cards are new so there is no payment yet.

Anyway, hope she gets something in 90 days. She will pay in full and make sure the balance is $0 when she request the CLI. At least she got her EX FICO and it is 724.

I can't find any information about a CLI denial recon, should she try?

You can't recon a CLI denial with Amex. You'd have to try later....

Its probably best to just apply after 10/15 which really isn't that far away, then you'll have that year with them.

The letter was for a CLI request, not for an application. She got approved for PRG 50k points promo and BCP $250 back 0% for 15 months then 12.99%. She tried the 3X because she knew her score was above 700 and they approved with low APR.

I think she can try by 06/15 for a CLI again. She can't do anything about the 'length of time' part, but she will PIF.

If they deny then she will try 10/15.

There is one recent example of a member who successfully did so.
