Hello:
Just wanted to see if anyone else has ever had this issue and any tips to overcome this. I have 3 AMEX Cards, this one in particular i have is the Everyday Card that i have had since 2014 and it has the lowest limit of all of them at $500.00. AMEX has refused to raise this CL even when i hit the luv button. They keep telling me my FICO score is too low even when it is 685; however, they have approved me for two other cards with them with $1500 limits with the two other cards when my score was 689 about a year ago. Not much has changed with my score and my util is < 30%. Any ideas why they wont budge on this one credit card?? I spoke to a supervisor twice about this but get the same scripted song and dance.
Thanks for any input

If you have three revolvers with them, I'd put some spend on one/two of them, get your utilization under 20%. Wouldn't worry too much about the Everyday card, until your score hits 700. Am Ex wants to see usage, but low util%. I have a decent cl with them, but rarely go above 10% with my combined cards/credit line. Hang in there, we all know low limits are frustrating! You've got your foot in the door; give it a little time & effort, then go for 3x cli on (take your pick) one of your cards.
My first amex started at 1400 and is actually still there they denied me the 3x cli at 61 days but a week after with same score approved me for 10k on another card with same score and sp. maybe next time you try for a cli go on a different card you can transfer limits around from card to card, and remember if they deny for anything besides requesting to early you have to wait 90 or 91 days to try again
Your experience sounds similar to mine but with different SLs. All last year they approved me for new cards, 10K on the first one and then the rest were all approved for 2K but I couldn't get a CLI. Finally after one year of membership I was able to get a CLI. They may just want to see more history from you. I now have a 30K ED, 3.3K Delta Gold and 1K Blue Cash with them. Because they were approving me for new cards, it gave me hope and I didn't ditch them like I might have with other issuers. My EX has gone from 693 to 722 in that year. I'm aggresively chipping away at my debt from when I was younger and thought credit was "free money" ![]()
As others have stated, AMEX wants to see usage. I have been with them since 2013, and from personal experience, the only time I ever received Auto CLIs from them was when I made the card my everyday card and PIF right away. AMEX and Chase like transactors while Discover and Citi like people who carry balances.
I don't know what your spending habits are, but if you can start using one of your AMEX cards as your every day card you might see some love. Good luck!
