Well like everyone I decided to pull the trigger on AOD yes the unicorn card... and got the application under review. Called next day and said unfortunately we cannot approve you at this time due to too many recent inquiries. I spoke to a manager and he said unfortunately we do not review applications again once denied and said you also have too many new accounts.. They pulled equifax which had about 11 ( I didn't think that was terrible?) score was 711... I drafted a letter to the board for a reconsideration! Cross my fingers but expect to cut my loss for now. Became a member so worse case in the garden for 6 months then I shall try again!

My suggestion would be to let gardening be your guide as it is doubtful they'll reconsider their decision even if escalated to the board.

You may not think the number of recent new accounts/inquiries "was terrible", but there's a reason they have their own internal UW criteria which tends to be a bit more conservative nowadays. In the beginning when AOD was the FOTM and the MF darling, sure. Not so much these days.

Yes membership approved. Took a bunch of documents and honestly it depends on the rep. One rep was super friendly and the other was like "we are a small credit union and can't handle this exposure 😅"

I see.  Congrats on the membership.  Like you said, just chill for a little bit and then apply for the Visa.  Good luck.

Yeah, that is why I made contact before applying also was super patient, Membership and card took them about a month. Which is a long time but I could tell they appreciated that I was patient.

Just spoke with manager today. Had her laughing and we overall had a great time talking... buttered her up with asking about their checking accounts before talking about my denial for sig... she then told me she can gather my file and send it to the board for a reconsideration. She was like normally we don't do this it's a lot of work and with us being so behind but I want to see you get approved... so fingers crossed. I also sent a letter to the board a few days ago so maybe from that and her persistence we might get a overturn

Yeah, personal relations and just a bit of an insight into who they are dealing with can make a difference. Good luck.
