AOD Visa Denial

I applied for an AOD visa signature about a month ago after joining NEABA. It's been a long back and forth with lots of waiting, but the reason they gave me was that my employment with my current employer hasn't been long enough. They did offer me a savings account which I accepted. How long have you guys worked for your employers that did get approval for this card?

When I was approved almost a year ago, I had been with my employer for about 8 years.

Re: AOD Visa Denial

Man I sure hope 4-5 years is good enough when I apply in a few months. I am really not getting my hopes up with this card.

Sorry to hear of the denial, @Clegga.  Yes, AOD FCU has been very selective at times in their underwriting.  I also wondered how long you've been with your current employer?   Did you try to ask them if they could tell you a minimum length they were hoping to see?

When I applied and was accepted two years ago, I had over 21 years with the same employer.   Based on reports about their assumptions regarding income sources and amounts and debt repayment (in particular student loan debt), it appears they want to make very conservative calculations about your ability to repay debt.   To them, less time on a job = less stability = potential disruption to ability to repay based on that current income.  I would take the savings account opportunity, let it age, and reapply in another year or two.

Re: AOD Visa Denial

I'm about to graduate college, so I had only just finished onboarding when I applied Smiley Sad

Oh well, I'll reapply in a year or two once I've been with my company longer. I did ask about how long they want someone to be with an employer, and I'll update everyone when I get a reply.

Sorry about your denial but even though their UW can be a bit much, don't give up hope on getting accepted. When I applied back in May of last year, I had only been with my current employer, at the time, for 5 months and was approved, so it's very profile dependent with them.

I did not receive something like this nor was I asked for it by AOD. They simply said I didn't have enough time with my employer and offered the savings account. My rep did not respond to my question about time with an employer, but I have accepted the savings account.
