Hello Everyone! Looking for some advice...DH (EXP-620) has an APPLE CARD, which was approved on March 12th, 2021. This makes it 94 days ago. Our limit is $1500.00 and we have a balance of $375 on it right now so about 25% of utilization. Should we pull the trigger on asking for a CLI? Should we do it via iMessage or call it in? Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.
Update: We went ahead and tried for a CLI. Prior to the 90 days, we were getting a "Account to New Message" now we received a "Transunion (609 score) reports a recent past due" he has not had a past due since June of 2019 which is 1 student loan late. My husband has maintained an exceptional payment history since June of 2019. I am going to test a theory that maybe GS might have issues with lates that are less than 2 years or at the 2 year mark, based on other posts that I have read of people not having any recent lates.
Thanks for the update and sorry to hear the CLI wasn't approved. On the upside, it was SP so no harm, no foul + your DPs will definitely help other members. You can always try again in ~90 days and see whether GS is still taking those previous factors into account.
Sorry to hear of the denial OP, and a year ago in credit terms was yesterday. GS is also on their first foray into credit cards with the Apple Card, so they may be a little more conservative on this. I'd try every three months and see when they say yes. That'll be a great DP.
Sorru to hear about your denial, better luck next time!
First of all I'm sorry to hear about the denial on the request for a limit increase. I can attest that Goldman Sachs is very sensitive when it comes to past due payments on student loans.
I had a hard time getting approved for the Apple Card. I was always denied for being recently past due (I applied 12 times before they finally said yes. The 12th time I was approved through what's now called the Apple cart trick).
I hadn't missed a payment in 2 years and a half years at the time. I also had difficulty getting a limit increase for being recently past due. At the time the missed payments happened 2 years and 9 months ago.
I'm not exactly sure at what point they become ok with the past due payment. I was able to get my account with the past due payments removed from my report and it was only after my reports updated that I got my first Apple Card limit increase.
Hopefully they can get approved for a limit increase soon. Another alternative is with the new Apple Card Family program maybe you can apply for your own Apple Card and then in July when the feature launches you can merge the 2 accounts into a joint account. Perhaps your profile also will be easier to get limit increases every 3 months. Best wishes to you both when you ask for an increase!
On the Apple forum discussion pages, folks there are reporting that 6 months of past transactions is necessary for a CLI.
They say that instead of using the message app in your iPhone wallet, to call Goldman Sachs for a live rep.
I have had an Apple Card since it launched and only recently asked for a CLI which they granted a 50% increase after calling them.
Since I PIF on the Apple Card, I use it mainly as a 2% cash back on grocery card and my most recent Apple installment (M1 iMac 24").

Every single person who I know with an Apple Card was denied multiple times with high scores and decent utilization ended up being instantly approved via the apple cart trick.

Got one in 3 months using iMessage. It was roughy a 50% increase.
