Airline Rewards Cards

Hello all!

I was wondering what scores are best for applying for a airline rewards card like the Capital One Venture or the United Milage Plus? I travel a lot and would love to eventually get one of those cards. I am in the slowwwww process of rebuilding my credit after. Just want to know what score to work toward in order to be qualified!

Thank you!

Re: Airline Rewards Cards

My guess is Capital One would be the easiest to get.   Your scores a bit low right now but Capital One has a prequalification page that I'm pretty sure is pretty accurate.   I would try the pre-approval page as it is a SP and is not hard one unless you decide to really apply for a card.  Start with their lower cards as it helped me build from my BK.   I started with their QuickSilver and worked up to the Venture one.

Re: Airline Rewards Cards

It's unlikely to get approved for Cap1 Venture with 5xx FICO, unfortunately. Although Cap1 does offer a variety of products for people with a wide range of credit rating, some of their products still require a high score.

BTW I wouldn't really categorize the Venture as an airline rewards credit card. Its reward is at 1 cent per point max, and does not offer any ability to transfer points to loyalty programs, nor does it give any special status/privilege for any airlines.

Re: Airline Rewards Cards

In my humble opinion your credit score must me above 680-700 across the board for Venture( its my dream card). With my scrore in my signature I got last year the following: MC Platinum $3k, Neiman Marcus $750, Saks First $750, also prea aproved envelope for sony visa. I wish you all the best and hope that you'll get Venture soon.
