I have never seen this asked but decided to try for a CLI with his alliant credit card. It has been pending for days and now he received a message on why he is requesting an increase.
I mean I have told creditors before aka Lowes that have a home improvement coming etc, but never got this asked by a CU.
Kinda through me a little lol.
Just curious what's a good response that can result in the increase?
Tell them you're looking To pad utilization then don't say a word and try to listen for the reaction! 😄

😂😂😂
Odd for sure.....wondering if he's making small talk or debating how much to give you? Holiday Shopping....$2000 or Home Remodel...$10,000
Looking forward to the outcome. I had been a member and app'd for a card and declined because of too many recent accounts and having too much unused credit lines so I said okay...moved on.
On a serious note I would use the BT alibi if you have an offer for one. Or the "I'll be closing a lot of my CCs and focus spending on you (Alliant) due to your low APR and don't want my score to tank for the loss of all those available credit".
That's it I'm out of lies or rather reasons! 😆
Maybe the GOAT liers of the myFICO land can chime in?
I think the padding idea is great. "Synchrony is being a jerk and closing my unused lines and I need a new way to BS my scores - hook me up kthanxbye."
Welp we just messaged back about wanting to make a few purchases and like the terms and APR on this account etc etc. Well within minutes maybe 2 😂instant denial . Too many inquiries ,limits on existing accounts .
Not sure why bother with a message asking why then 🙄Oh well we won't be using that card for spending, next ...........

My experience with Alliant is they are looking for a reason to deny instead of approving you. For banking they are great but can be very hard to deal with for credit
