Re: Alliant Credit Union - Data Points

I was denied but plan on apping again in 6 months. However, I will fully utilize the banking side.  I'm going to close my chase account ASAP

Re: Alliant Credit Union - Data Points

I fully utilize the banking side as well LShan. Haven't bothered to app a card with them and probably won't. I prefer not to have a credit relationship where I keep my money. But, that's just me. I have plenty other CUs and banks to use for credit.

Re: Alliant Credit Union - Data Points

Hey Baller, now why do you prefer not to have your credit card where you bank? Just curious.

Re: Alliant Credit Union - Data Points

Read too many horror stories of CUs taking money from accounts to cover past due payments/balances on credit accounts which is within their right to do. They call it cross collateralization. Of course none of us plan to get behind on payments. But, none of us also never know when "life" might happen. I just prefer to keep my banking and credit relationships separate. But, like I said, that's just me.

Re: Alliant Credit Union - Data Points

@Baller - mosthe credit unions have it in their membership agreement. BECU sure does.
If they take a loss on an account, like a ch13/7 and them not getting their full amount, they close your account, but do send your money to you (this happened to me).
They also will take a payment (like car payment) if you miss one...

Re: Alliant Credit Union - Data Points

Yep. It's very common with CUs. So for my own peace of mind, I prefer to keep things separate.
