Already have CSP but applied for CSR.

I applied for the CSR and got the 30 day letter message. I received a letter today saying I already have the CSP and can’t have more than 1 Sapphire product.

If I call, can they convert my CSP to a CS and then approve my CSR application? Anyone experience this?

This is what we were told when we were in a similar spot as you. You can convert your CSP to a Freedom card (whichever you don't already have), then let it update in Chase's system for a cycle. After that, you apply for the CSR, and if approved and haven't received any Sapphire SUB in the past two years, you'll be eligible for the SUB of the CSR. The only difference is we didn't apply but called first to find out about their policy. That saved my wife the HP because the Chase cards are in her name (CSP and CF). The rep told us it'd an automatic decline if you already have a Sapphire product regardless of how old it is. I called before applying because I got lucky and caught something in the fine print regarding eligibility for the card.

Re: Already have CSP but applied for CSR.

Chase's "one Sapphire" rule is basically you can only have one of {sapphire, sapphire preferred, sapphire reserve} if you submit new application nowadays, so converting your CSP to the regular Sapphire won't work out.

You can, however, convert it to Freedom or other non-Sapphire cards and re-apply after giving enough time for Chase to have your profile updated.

Re: Already have CSP but applied for CSR.

I simply asked to product change the CSP to CSR and had no issue. Pretty sure you need a 10K limit on the CSP to do this.

Or you could do that too if you have the minimum CL required, but then you'd leave 50K points on the table. We wanted the SUB or would've asked for a PC too. We actually kicked ourselves in the butt for not applying when the SUB was 100k, and there was no restriction to have only 1 Sapphire product. They updated their policy because... well... churners... Smiley Very Happy

Yah, well... when you're 5/24, and you don't want to wait 2 years... Smiley Happy

Re: Already have CSP but applied for CSR.

I had this same question as I have a CSP but want a CSR when I am eligible for the bonus, and needed a strategy. I want to PC my CSP to a FU one billing cycle before apping for the CSR. Hopefully, 2nd or 3rd quarter Freedom card bonus categories are restaurants, so I don't miss my CSP too much.
