Well, that was a letdown. I was sure I had a good chance at this after my successess over the past month, so I decided to take the chance today. I tried the button on my account page at Synchrony and got the "7-10 day" message. That perturbed me but not too much since I'd read many other accounts of people who've gotten turned down or gotten that message from pushing the button, so I decided to go straight to Credit Solutions, where I was connected to a very nice lady named Stacey. I'm afraid she had to be especially patient because, being hearing-impaired, I was using a TDD attached to my iPhone and there was a lot of garbling so we had to repeat a lot of stuff.
Unfortunately, I got turned down flat. I asked for the figure which had been recommended to me by rmduhon over in Rebuilding Credit, so she put me on hold for a couple of minutes. I was expecting her to come back with a lower figure but she said that at this time they can't do a CLI for me at all and will send me a letter explaining why. What bothers me is that I might have had a HP done on one or more of my reports, and that and the denial will put a ding in my ratings right when I was making good progress on building them up. I'm afraid the same thing might happen to me if I ask for that CLI on my new Capital One unsecured that I was also considering, so I may have to put that off as well and wait for the automatic CLI after 5 payments instead, Rats!
CLI request with Synchrony and CapOne are usually SPs.

Dont worry too much Joe, usually they are sp, as Loquat mentioned. If they didnt approve this time, no sweat try again in a month or 2 and remember as your TU rises so are your chances at a better cli
True that - I suppose I was just getting a bit too overconfident based on my recent successes. I do have this super-nice Discover It in the mail somewhere en route, so there's that.
My first request for a cli was denined as well. A few months later they gave me a $300 auto cli and I then called in and was able to get an additional $2300. Don't fret, your time will come.

How long have you had the card? I got mine last year it took a couple tries before I got approved now it's up to 5k but at a stand still my last 4 credit line increase have been declined so I will just wait it out
Just about 4 months (since the Sunday after Thanksgiving), so it may have been a bit too soon to try for a CLI in retrospect.. It'd been suggested to me that this would be a good time to try for a CLI, but I suppose that the other credit activity I had going on the past month (used car application and approval, 2 new credit card applications and approvals) and the associated inquiries were a bit too much for Synchrony at this time. I take this as a sign that I should go into a gardening phase for the next few months, which I was planning to do anyway - my real aim at this point is to get a Visa and/or Amex in the fall.

Sorry OP. Do you know what your TU FICO is? I was denied monthly on mine for about 4 months. Then finally I got one... and have gotten one every time I asked since. I never ask for a huge amount because it's Synch and I don't want the blue envelope... but started at $800 and now at $5000 and I believe I have had it for 10 months. I usually ask every other month for $1000 or so. I probably will leave it at $5k now since I never use it anyway now that Chase is 5%. In fact I may close it one day. It's one of two cards on my chopping list left.
Chin up and try again next month. I have never had a HP with Synch on either my Amazon Store or Ebates cards.
TU is 676 (not that they're relevant right now but EX is 660 and EQ was 690 when I got my car loan last month). My current line (the one I started with) is the same as yours, $800. The part about the blue envelope does worry me - I've heard about how often those seem to be dropping lately (though mostly on Synchrony cardholders who have a LOT of cards) and I don't want one falling on me just because I made a declined CLI. I tried for $6000 on advice in another thread (the suggested figure was actually $10,000 but I got cold feet) but now I wonder if I should have asked for a more modest figure after all...
