I haven't seen any concrete data about the Amazon card but every other Chase card has been put under 5/24. I doubt they would exclude only one card at this point. So I would assume it's under 5/24.

I tend to agree with this. Although, Amazon wields a huge sword. Mr. Bezos may not appreciate customers not getting credit with a lil rule like 5/24.

As has been debated many times on this forum whenever 5/24 is discussed, I think generally it impacts far fewer general consumers than we act like it does. Most people do not apply for many cards, and those who do have been obviously judged by Chase to be unprofitable. If Chase presented their analysts on this to the various cobrand partners, I doubt the partners would argue, and ultimately Chase is the one who backs the card.

Most people who want an Amazon card in the general population won't be excluded for 5/24. Yes it sucks for us who chase after rewards but we aren't the ideal customer and we are largely unprofitable so I doubt Chase or Amazon cares.

Very well said. 5 credit cards in a span of 2 years is very unlikely for your "average" consumer. Most people I know that aren't "into" credit cards barely have 1-2 cards overall, let alone 5 in 2 years lol.

Exactly. While we around here hate 5/24, the average consumer isn't going to notice or care, and Chase is weeding out the segment it wishes to weed out, whether we agree or not. They didn't become a huge bank by making poor decisions!

I can't say I know anyone outside of the "credit world" who even has more than 5 cards total let alone opened that many within 24 months!

Re: Amazon rewards visa 5/24?

Update: I apply today and I got the following message:

"Thank you for applying.
Unfortunately, your application for the Amazon Rewards Visa card could not be approved by Chase

Chase will notify you in writing about the decision in 30 days. Thank you for applying." and robo lady says 7-10 days

Is anyone familar with that message?

Re: Amazon rewards visa 5/24?

Sounds like a 5/24 denial.

Sorry OP but you've been warned

7-10 days is almost always a denial. Guess the Amazon does fall under 5/24 as suspected. Sorry OP

no clue whether that is a 5/24 denial you will have to get the letter.  no need to jump to conclusions.  denials can happen to people with 800+ scores and under 5/24 as well or various other reasons

Op, if you don’t mind, update us on the reason when you get the letter. I am curious since the Amazon Prime visa is on my wish list.

Re: Amazon rewards visa 5/24?

I think all the Chase credit cards are now under 5/24 rule.
