OP you should just admit to yourself that that they requested an IRS form for verification of income and you would not provide it . AMEX will consider this as your stated income was fradulent. The bad news is you are in AMEX jail and you will be leaving home without it for a very long time. Unlike a credit score AMEx can block you forever if they suspect fraud.
