American Express Pre-Qualify Issue

Hey guys, I am now a 702 FICO looking to re-apply for an American Express. I applied in November and was declined even after calling the recon line. Currently these past 2 days, I've been trying to do the "Pre-Qualify" form they have but every time I submit it, it takes me to a login screen. I did what most people have said on this page (clear cookies, use private browser, use different PC's, iPad, iPhone, etc) and no luck. I called AE today and I explained my situation how I got denied in November and now the form isn't working. After talking to 3 people, they transfered me to the "over the phone application" which I did not want to do yet but they were no help with my questions. What should I do next?

If you were interested in applying again why not just apply over the phone. Prequal isnt the only way to get approved with Amex.

Welcome to My Fico  welcomewave (1).gif

Try doing it incognito.

Getting to incognito mode is device/browser specific so google it for your device/browser and try that.

Good Luck

As mentioned upthread OP, if incognito doesn't yield any pre-approved offers then it likely means that you may not meet their criteria. Are you currently opted-in?

What were the reasons cited for the denial from your last application?

Do you have an active Amex card?  Or are you an AU on one?

Re: American Express Pre-Qualify Issue

I am not an AU and I also downloaded chrome to use incognito but no luck. They assured me I don't have an account with them when I called as well.

Then your options seem to be: either wait and see whether any pre-approved offers eventually display or apply outright when your profile is more optimal.

Did you follow the steps to enter incognito in Chrome?

Because the site uses your IP address so just using Chrome as a new browser wont work..

Just checkin'

This. Try using your phone, or disabling or setting any VPN to the correct proxy that you might have on your computer, or go outside and use cellular network and try again. Had this issue before when I was checking while overseas and forgot to put my vpn to my home state.

Re: American Express Pre-Qualify Issue

If you're 702 now, what were you only 2 months ago? If you haven't done anything to significantly increase your chances, then it's likely the same reponse. I don't know what your profil looks like, but it's tough to make a differnt in only two months. Even if you payed every CC you have off, takes a whole statement period just for changes to even post to the CBs.

You may need to wait another couple months, and work on your score in the meantime.
