Amex BCE Card Application/Approval without HP

Hello All,

Just curious if anyone has ever applied and been approved for an Amex BCE w/out a HP.   I got a BCE card about 4 months ago and it started reporting on the CBs about 3 months ago but none of the 3 are showing a HP for it.  

I did previously have a Costco Amex before it was converted to Citi but that was a couple of years ago.   Nothing important here.   I just found this odd.

To answer your question. Yes, approved without a HP. If you’re an existing Amex customer, it has been my understanding, that approvals are based on SP and history. Someone may step in an correct me on that, but I’ve app’d and been approved on 3 cards in the last month (spread over a two week period) with just my original HP.

If this wasn't your first AMEX card, then that's not odd. AMEX typically does SPs for existing customers. If it WAS your first AMEX, then either you got crazy lucky or the HPs just aren't showing up for whatever reason.

Can confirm that if you're an existing member you wont get a HP. I closed 2 of my Amex (BCE and Everday) cards due to personal reasons, app'd one less than month later and got approved SP. I still had a plat card with them still

Thanks for the feedback, All.   It must have been because of my prior Costco Amex that I didnt get a HP.
