Amex CLI; Distraction=Oops! What to do?

So while at work last night I realized it had been 180+ days since my last Amex CLI and decided to hit them up and see what happens. Not wanting to log into my account on work computer, I used my phone.

I was only planning to increase my Delta from $12k to $25k as more didn't make sense to me and it allowed me to finally cross over the $100k threshold.

Well, I accidentally typed in 35,000 into the request field. I saw it. I knew thats not what I wanted. But right at that moment I was interrupted and I had to put down my phone before fixing it. I hadn't hit submit yet.

After a brief but mind numbing conversation, I picked my phone up and hit submit without thinking. I immediately knew what I did and wasn't totally surprised when I saw the 7-10 day message pop up. Figured denial and time to reset the clock.

But after a few minutes I said what the heck and submitted another CLI request, this time for the $25k. Instant approval and my account was updated to show it a short while later. I wasn't expecting that to work.

But I then I wake up to an email from Amex stating "We need some more information to finish processing your CLI request" with a link to complete 4506-T online. Also stated I'd be receiving the same info in the mail in 5-10 days.

So is the 4506-T for the accidental $35k request with the 7-10 day message or is it for the approved $25k request? My account is showing $25k CL and there are no alerts or messages. Do I wait it out and see what happens? Do I call them and risk them saying "It was for the 35, not for the 25 but since you reached out, send it anyway".

At no point did I ever get the IV popup where I could back out and put in a lower amount. Numbers given to them have always been accurate so not worried about that, just don't like jumping through hoops.

Just ignore it.  You'll get an informational letter informing you of a denial of the original $35K request but that's it.

Re: Amex CLI; Distraction=Oops! What to do?

The IV prompt came from the $35k request and the letter you receive in the mail will be from that one.  Once you took the $25k the $35k one became irrelevant.  You can toss the letter you get in the mail from Amex in a few days.

When I went for a CLI on my $30k Amex I started at $50k, received the IV language, then slowly walked my request amount down until I received an approval at $35k.  I ended up receiving a rubber-banded stack of 20 IV letters from Amex a few days later.  Smiley Very Happy

@Anonymous - I was expecting some sort of IV notification during the request process. Not a 7-10 day (denial) message and then an IV email 6 hours later.

Maybe it had to do with the device you were using.

I ignored it...most likely for the $35K...
